Female orientated magazine cover.

Cosmopolitan.

The masthead is slightly covered by the main image, and this shows that the Cosmopolitan brand of magazines is well known, so people will know what it is without having to see the full title. It is also in capitals and in a bright pink font, which attracts the female audince. The fact that it is in capitals also makes it stand out, even though it is partly covered by the main image.

The main image is of a well known singer, Mollie King from The Saturdays. She is well known and is relatable to people in the age bracket that this magazine is targeting. She is just an average girl, and is between the 18-30 age range that this magazine is targeting also. The main image of Mollie uses direct address, which means she is looking directly into the eyes of the people looking at the magazine cover, this draws them in. She is also seen to be blowing a kiss to the readers, as if she knows the readers and/or is friends with them. This and the clothes she is wearing also adds sex appeal, attracting men, so women will want to look like her. People reading this magazine will also be interested in her life and will want to know how she keeps fit, who she is dating etc.

The cover lines use very feminine pinks and reds, which are typical lipstick colours and show that this magazine is targeted at women. The cover lines are also about stories that people in this target audience would be interested in. For example, there is an article about loving your body and happy hair, and these are things that the target audience want to know about. The font used in the cover lines is also very feminine and sophisticated, and the main cover line is using a font in which looks like somebody has wrote it using lipstick, which appeals to the audience.
